Hello I’m Tatiana Escobar As soon as I see the perfect scene, I race with the changing light to capture moments both fleeting and real….It’s the ordinary scene that becomes extraordinary.»
I’m a studio painter, so I work from photographs that I take myself, as well as from life, on location. I take a lot of photographs of places that have potential as the subjects of my paintings. I use photographs as visual reminders of my subjects. Once in my studio, I look carefully at the prints and consider how I might crop the images, combine two or more shots, add or subtract elements, and adjust the colors and values. I then sketch out the design directly on a sheet of Arches 300 lb cold pressed watercolor paper using a grid. I’m concerned about the perspective of buildings.
I express myself through my paintings. It’s exciting to put those first few strokes, on paper.
Biography
Born in Barranquilla, Colombia. Finished studies in Interior Design and Business Administration in the University Autonoma del Caribe, Barranquilla, Colombia in 1977 and 1988 respectively.
I worked twenty seven years alternating both my careers; seventeen years were dedicated directing the school of interior design; the remaining years were spent managing furniture industry in Colombia, and working for different furnishing stores in Southern California.
Since 2001 I have resided in Signal Hill, California and I have worked for furniture stores, as showroom designer. I’ve been working as an interior designer for the past three decades, and always wanted to be an artist.
However, all my life I had an itch for painting that constantly nagged at me… Until fifteen years ago when out came the colors & the form. The creative ideas jumped from the box of surprises that air of nostalgia, my artistic inspiration exploded after years of being repressed. This has allowed me to get to know my ambition for art, specifically watercolor, were I have achieved many triumphs in collective and individual exhibitions.

There are many who are suffering, and they need our help. They believe that no one cares for them, but you and I know this isn’t true. The goal of CreARTE is to create selfless superheroes, one work of art at a time; with your help, we can do this!
My work has been selected to appear in calendars and in a restaurant menu. Today I continue with all my interests in life: painting, interior design and business administration but I will never abandon my special passion… WATERCOLOR & ACRYLIC!!!
